Looking out over the Jezreel Valley from the Lower Galilee hills, a few kilometres south-west of Nazareth, Migdal HaEmek began in 1953 as a development town and was declared a city in 1988. Its industrial zone, home to high-tech plants, gave the place a reputation beyond its size. Route 75, the Haifa to Nazareth road, runs along the edge of town, and since 2016 the Valley railway has stopped at Migdal HaEmek-Kfar Baruch station, down in the valley, reachable by bus or taxi. Housing climbs the slopes in successive neighbourhoods. The founding residents came largely from North Africa; the 1990s brought Russian speakers. Practical note: driving is the most direct option for an appointment, and parking is rarely a problem away from the main shopping street.
