Tel Aviv-Yafo holds most of the country's economic activity, and its traffic shows it: at rush hour, the journey matters more than the distance. Parking is scarce and paid almost everywhere. The light rail Red Line, open since 2023, runs from Petah Tikva to Bat Yam and changes how you reach an appointment from the eastern suburbs. The city stretches from Ramat Aviv in the north down to Jaffa, so two practices both listed as "Tel Aviv" can be forty minutes apart. Check the neighbourhood before you book.

The care landscape in Tel Aviv

On the hospital side, Tel Aviv is built around the Sourasky Medical Center, better known as Ichilov, which houses the Dana-Dwek Children's Hospital and the Lis Maternity Hospital. Assuta Medical Center and the Reuth rehabilitation centre complete the picture. As everywhere in Israel, day-to-day care runs first through one of the four health funds (Clalit, Maccabi, Meuhedet, Leumit), which every resident belongs to. Private practitioners are usually seen outside the funds and paid directly.
