Hod HaSharon was stitched together in 1964 from four farming villages of the Sharon (Magdiel, Ramatayim, Hadar and Ramat Hadar) and received city status in 1990. That origin still shows: several centres instead of one, wide avenues joining them, and parks and green belts between the neighbourhoods. The city sits between Kfar Saba to the north and Petah Tikva to the south, with Ramat HaSharon a short hop to the west. The train makes it simple: Hod HaSharon-Sokolov station is on the line out of Tel Aviv, and by car you use Route 4 or Route 531, which continues to Highway 6. Practical tip: the station is on the edge of town, so count on a local bus or a few minutes by taxi to reach Magdiel or the Ramatayim centre.
