Qalansawe belongs to the Triangle, the string of Arab Muslim towns along the Green Line on the eastern side of the Sharon plain, with Tayibe to the south and the Kfar Yona area to the north. The name goes back to the Middle Ages, when a twelfth-century Crusader fortress called Calansue stood here; some of its stones survive in the old core. Recognised as a city in 2000, Qalansawe is still organised around its extended families, and farming on the flat land around it remains part of daily life. Access is by Road 444, which strings the Triangle localities together, or from Highway 57 (Netanya-Tulkarm) to the north. No railway serves the town; the stations of the Netanya area are the closest, with a bus or taxi for the last stretch. Getting around depends on the car, central streets are narrow and spaces scarce, so for an appointment park on the outskirts and finish on foot.
