About Nesher

Nesher sits where the eastern flank of Mount Carmel meets the Haifa bay plain, so close to Haifa that the two form one built-up area. It began in 1925 as a workers' settlement beside the cement works founded two years earlier, took its name from that factory, and became a city in 1995. A wave of newcomers from the former Soviet Union in the 1990s reshaped its streets and shops. Neighbourhoods such as Tel Hanan, Ben Dor and Givat Nesher are stacked on the hillside at different heights, and Nesher Park with its hanging footbridges over the Katia stream offers a green break. Highway 75 toward Nazareth runs along the lower edge, Road 672 climbs toward the Technion next door, and the nearest rail hub is Lev HaMifratz on the bay. Tip for an appointment: slopes are steep between lower and upper Nesher, so check which neighbourhood you need and allow for a local bus ride if you come by train.
