About Kiryat Ono

East of Tel Aviv and sharing a border with Ramat Gan, Kiryat Ono grew out of the farming village of Kfar Ono, set up in 1939 and named after the biblical town of Ono whose valley it occupies; city status followed in 1992. Its neighbours are Givat Shmuel, Savyon, Yehud, Or Yehuda and Ganei Tikva, which gives a sense of the quiet suburban character: detached houses, newer apartment blocks and a college campus. Highway 4 (the Geha road) skirts the western edge and Route 461 cuts across the middle, while frequent buses connect to Tel Aviv and Petah Tikva. There is no railway station in town; the Purple Line of the Tel Aviv light rail, still under construction, is planned to stop here. When driving in for an appointment, allow extra time on the Geha road during office hours and look for free street parking in the residential lanes rather than near the mall.
