A cardiologist is a medical specialist trained in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases affecting the heart and blood vessels. They use clinical examination, diagnostic tests (electrocardiography, echocardiography, imaging), and medical or interventional treatments to manage hypertension, heart failure, arrhythmias, coronary disease, and other cardiovascular conditions. In Israel as in Europe and North America, a cardiologist holds a general medical degree followed by 4–6 years of recognized specialist training.
